Here we go with another round Christmas-related words that start with the letter V for this festive season. I initially thought the wasn’t going to be much of a list of Christmas words to pick from. Wow, was I wrong. I collected a lot more then I was expecting. So, to not waste any more time lets get started on this list of words to increase your Christmas vocabulary.

Vacation

Many families go on vacation during the Christmas holiday. Some go back home and visit and other find it a good time to go to a new place or a place for the whole family to meet up at. Skiing common but the top destination the US is New York, New York.

Vanilla

A common ingredient in Christmas cookies. Chocolate chip cookies are not the same without it.  

Vanillekipferl

Vanilla Crescent in German. These pastries are crescent shaped and covered in powdered sugar. 

Vatican 

The Vatican hold a Christmas Mass every year. 

Velvet

Christmas Velvet is a peony flower. Standing up to 30” with a bright red bloom.

Verdant

Verdant can stand for the rich green appearance of Christmas trees or the lush forest in which you choose your tree from.

Vermicelli

Vermicelli pudding also called Aletria is a traditional Portuguese christmas pudding. 

Vespers

Similar to vigils but not as long. Vigils are usually longer and done after vespers.

Vestments

Vestments are the religious garments associated primarily within the Christian religion. It’s thought that Santa’s outfit was influenced by St. Nicholas’s red robes. 

Vibrant 

Vibrant Christmas decorations and decor are as good as the vivid lights.

Vigil

In a Christian Church the Christmas Vigil Mass is a service held the night leading up to Christmas Day. 

Vignettes

Christmas Vignettes are a collection of related objects like ornaments, decor, fake snow, fruit, or greenery as a focal point. There are 1000 of ideas on Pinterest for great set ups. 

Village

Disney Christmas Village Display

People collect village miniatures. Sometimes it’s just a part of a village like a skate rink other times they set up a whole village. Other times people set up Santa’s village with reindeer, elves, trees, and snow.

Villager

The people in the village. 

Vintage

Almost everything that makes CHristmas feel like CHristmas is the vintage or timely decor and ornaments. The Christmas tree has an angel or star, the lights, and the glass ornaments. Then you have Santa and his outfit, reindeer, and the vintage sleigh. 

Violin

One of my favorite christmas songs Christmas Eve by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra starts with beautiful violin intro. 

Virgin Mary

Born c. 18 b c and after died c. 33 AD She is the virgin that birthed Jesus Christ.

Visions

As visions of sugar plums dance in their heads. A line from one of the most known Christmas poems ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clark Moore.

Visit

People have a tendency to visit family on Christmas.

Vivid lights

One of the best parts of Christmas is the vivid lights. The way they sparkle and reflect off the ornaments is beautiful. 

Vixen

One of Santa’s reindeer. Originally, Vixen was thought to be Santa’s only female reindeer. 

Volunteer

A lot of people volunteer during Christmas time. According to American time use survey statistically 16% of adults volunteer about 2 hours a month between Thanksgiving and Christmas 5% more than the rest of the year between 2010-2013.

Votive

A votive candle is a short but thick candle used in a votive holder or votive stands. These are usually used as a prayer offering hence their other name as a prayer candle or as decoration. The word votive means offered or consecrated in fulfillment of a vow. 

Voyage

The 3 wise men and santa both went on a remarkable voyage. The 3 wise men traveled for 12 days from Bethlehem to Egypt and each gave a Christmas gift to the baby Jesus. 

Santa, well he travels the whole world in one night.
